BTS Could Cough Into A Mic And They’d Go Viral

But there's legit new music OTW!

If you hopped onto the Twittersphere this morning, you would have noticed the trends were heavily skewed to one topic in particular, BTS. The biggest, most-talented, boyband in the world right now announced they’re releasing a new album and it’s coming in a matter of days.

Their new project is called, Map of the Soul: 7, and it drops on Feb. 21 so get those wallets ready! While the announcement itself was lackluster – in that there was no album cover, no video, not even a single photo – the ARMY did its thing and sent the internet into a frenzy.

Me, waiting for this release, going crazy.

Within seconds, #7isComing and #BTSisComing started trending worldwide. Some members of the ARMY even trolled through old videos of the group and pointed out that Jimin had a startled reaction when he heard the number. The clues were there all along!

How did we NOT see the signs?

It hasn’t even been a year since their last release and BTS are already gearing up for a comeback. If you’re into buying albums even in this streaming age, you can pre-order the album starting tomorrow! This new LP follows the incredibly successful Map of the Soul: Persona, which dropped last year and featured the hit single “Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey)

The song of the millennium folks.

Considering the title of the new project, it is likely that this new album will be a repackaged version of the Persona LP from last year. For context, early in 2018, the band released Love Yourself: Tear before releasing the album again (with more songs and an updated tracklist) under the name Love Yourself: Answer.

Whatever it is, we’ll love it.

The group recently welcomed the new year with Post Malone in Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve event in Times Square, NYC. Is there potentially be a collaboration in store for us? Only time will tell. Whatever the case is, there’s new music and the ARMY (along with myself) could not be more excited!

Will Timothee Chalamet Eff A Peach In The Bob Dylan Biopic, Yes Or Yes?

Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman are shaking!

Peach advocate and general cutie-pie, Timothee Chalamet, is set to play the one-and-only Bob Dylan in a movie biopic for Fox Searchlight. However, the only question on everyone’s minds is, will the infamous peach make an appearance? The answer is unknown.

Me, thinking about a movie without the peach.

The biopic, titled Going Electric, is set to follow the iconic musician as he evolves from folk singer to rock-and-roll superstar. The motion picture going to be directed by Ford V. Ferrari director, James Mangold, and feature creative input from Bob Dylan himself.

Bob Dylan, keeping a close eye on the film’s production.

The release date of the film is still to be announced, but filming is reportedly due to start as soon as Timothee Chalamet finishes up in his London stage-debut in May this year. According to Deadline, Chalamet is already “taking guitar lessons so he can familiarize himself with the acoustic and electric guitar.” Can we just get the soundtrack already, please?

Can he sing as good as he can stare into the camera? Time will tell.

But let’s be real, are we really surprised at the announcement of this movie? The announcement of this film comes just a day after Taron Egerton won Best Actor for his Elton John portrayal in Rocketman at the 77th Golden Globe Awards. Not to mention, it wasn’t long after the release of Bohemian Rhapsody that the Queen biopic became the highest-grossing music biopic ever. The trends are clear; music biopics are in and Bob Dylan is a fascinating subject.

This music biopic earned over $900 million USD.

There hasn’t been a high-profile Bob Dylan in over a decade with the last one being that of the unconventional, 2007 film, I’m Not There. As a result, Timothee Chalamet will join Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere and Heath Ledger, as actors who have played the legend. Prior to that, Martin Scorsese directed a documentary on the star called No Direction Home.

Taken from Martin Scorsese’s 2005 documentary.

Also, back in 2018, the director of Call Me By Your Name, Luca Guadagnino, said that he planned to turn Dylan’s 1975 album Blood on the Tracks into a motion picture. Given the mutual love of Bob Dylan, it is plausible that Bob Dylan was playing in the background of that peach scene.

Bring back the peach! Please!

All The Outrageous Music Merch That’s Had Us Shook Over The Past Decade

From Taylor Swift's Tiananmen Square reference to Ariana Grande's dick jumper, we are confused, to say the least.

Music merchandise has become increasingly more important over the years. As the music industry has shifted from digital downloads to streaming, artists are “selling” their albums less and less. However, what they are selling is merchandise. As such, the production of merchandise has increased substantially, with many artists taking the direction of their offering often into strange areas. So, without further ado, here’s a whole bunch of weird merch from artists you know and love.

The Weeknd’s Vape

When The Weeknd released his vape in collaboration with PAX, he was simultaneously promoting his song “The Hills”, which contains the lyric “When I’m f*cked up, that’s the real me”. So, as you can imagine, this vape is actually quite on-brand for The Weeknd.

Kacey Musgrave’s Colouring Book

Okay, so I kind of see the relevance with this one. Considering Kacey Musgraves has a song called “Rainbow”, this unusual piece of merchandise definitely passes with flying colours. What better way to get your fans into the rainbow-mood, than by getting them to do it themselves. Plus, the colouring book is illustrated by Kacey’s mother, Karen Musgraves. We love a family moment!

Travis Scott’s Action Figure

There’s a new doll on the block and he’s got a “SICKO MODE”. Released in 2015, this action-figure is actually the same doll on his Rodeo album cover. However, with a price point of $150USD, we aren’t sure who in the world is getting this bad boy. Maybe if your earnings are the highest in the room…

Taylor Swift’s Controversial Shirt

We should have known this was trouble when it walked in. If you’re a super Swiftie, you may not recognise how this particular piece of clothing might be considered controversial. But to the normal eye, this reads “T.S. 1989” as in Tiananmen Square: 1989. And as China’s notoriously known for censoring the slightest reference to the incident, her merch expansion to the country was insensitive, to say the least.

BROCKHAMPTON’s Skipping Rope

Now, you can make like Dom McLennon and “skip on the beat like (you’re) Pee-Wee Herman”, literally! Introducing the official BROCKHAMPTON jump-rope! This piece of merch is destined to get you jumping around to all the GINGER sad-boy bangers.

LMFAO’s Sunnies

In 2008, Kanye West rocked some sunnies and we all thought to ourselves, how does he see through them? Well, in 2012, he was trumped by none other than LMFAO! These shuffler’s put the “art” in party with their aesthetically gorgeous sunnies! Just… don’t drive with them. Please?

Ariana Grande’s Questionable Sweater

Credit: Twitter

Once in a blue moon, a pop queen releases merchandise so bad that it becomes iconic. This year, Ariana Grande was that queen. Her design aesthetic embodied that of a Microsoft 98 Paint meets questionable, suggestive shapes. Is that a giant blue dick on a sweater? Yes. Do we want to buy it? Yes.
