'Birds Of Prey' Cast Reckon Harley Quinn Is More Suited To Heath Ledger's Joker

Sorry, Jared Leto!

The cast of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) have been asked which version of the Joker they believe is more suited to Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and the answer quickly becameclear – Heath Ledger’s version from The Dark Knight.

Suicide Squad showed the toxic relationship between Harley and the Joker, who was played by Jared Leto in the flick, and it was believed the pair would work on a spin-off together that centred on their relationship.

However, the plans for the movie fell apart and Margot Robbie chose to do Birds of Prey instead.

In the movie, Harley is seen recovering from her break up with the Clown Prince of Crime and sees the character team up with her very own girl gang.

In an interview with Jake Hamilton, the entire cast (except for Ewan McGregor), writer Christina Hodson and director Cathy Yan was asked which version of the Joker would have a healthy relationship with Harley.

Robbie said that any version of the Joker that’s true to the comics would never work, “because he’s a psychopath.”

Other cast members agreed, saying it wouldn’t be possible for them to have a healthy relationship.

Yan, however, offered a different argument, saying Ledger’s Joker would be more suited to her.

“It was such an intelligent take on the character that I feel like, and Margot’s Harley is so so smart behind all the crazy, that I would be very curious, like, the battle of wits on that one,” she said.

Margot was in favour of this idea, saying, “That would’ve been truly, truly, truly incredible.”

Can you imagine Margot Robbie and Heath Ledger onscreen together? That would have been magic.

Fans were very excited when they found out Birds of Prey would be a Joker-free zone, and it seems that Harley as her own person will be one of the best parts about the film.

Birds of Prey is out in cinemas on January 6.
