Batman Fans Almost Cost Robert Pattinson His Role Before The Audition

Team Edward.

Before Robert Pattinson was locked in to play Batman, news of his involvement leaked. Which, now we realise, almost cost him the job.

Poor thing.

While we’re on the topic of movies, listen to our Oscars chat on this episode of It’s Been A Big Day For…

In an interview with Time Out Magazine, he reflects on the moment the news hit our screens: ‘I hadn’t even done the audition’. He continued, ‘It’s just nerve-wracking because I was really excited about it and you think: really, is this how I’m going to lose this role? It’s the most annoying circumstances to lose something.’

Rumours can be super powerful. In the interview, Robert Pattinson spoke about how the rumours started to creep into other projects he had been involved in, specifically the new A24 classic The Lighthouse.

At the premiere for this Willem Dafoe-starring flick, R-Patz says he was grilled; “‘Everyone was like: “Is that true, is that true?”,’ he said. ‘And it wasn’t true at the time, I hadn’t got the job. It was pretty terrifying.”

Thankfully, he did get the role in the end, but not before he drummed up some controversy for calling Batman “not a superhero”. He also went on record to say that “Twilight is an arthouse movie.” Looks like this vampire is full of hot takes!

The Batman flick is set to hit cinemas in a few years time, with shooting beginning just yesterday! Check out this little snapshot uploaded by the Warner reboot’s director.

While the plot details are slightly scarce at the moment, we know the film is starring Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Honestly, we can’t wait. Also, we know that the plot will be completely fresh and not follow on from Ben Affleck’s portrayal
