If you think you’ve suffered through soul-crushing rejection, spare a thought for Drake, who was told by Céline Dion not to get a Céline Dion tattoo.
Back in 2017, Drake met Dion backstage at the Billboard Music Awards and was quite clearly shooketh. Not only did the rapper bow down to the Titanic songstress, but told her “I’m like a year away from a Céline tat.”
While Drake’s tribute to Dion is very thoughtful (and permanent) the pop icon wasn’t so keen on having her face immortalised on the rapper’s bod for life.
In a recent interview with iHeartRadio Canada, Dion pled with Drake not to go through with the tattoo. “Please Drake, I love you very much,” she said. “Can I tell you something? Don’t do that.”
“You can write me love letters, you can send me autographs for my kids, you can come and visit,” she said. “I can have you home for lunch or dinner…we can go for a drink. We can sing together. Whatever you want to do. I can talk to your mother – whatever you want! But please…”
The reason Dion is hitting the unsubscribe button on Drake’s future ink tribute is because “as time goes…as you get older…my face will go longer and it will not go prettier. So please don’t.”
Sadly, Dion’s plea to Drake might be a little late – the rapper already has 28 tattoos covering his body. What’s one more of Celine Dion’s face!?
Dion did offer Drake an alternative solution: “If you do it, just do a fake one so you can change your mind.” TBH, going to Celine Dion’s place for lunch and singing with her sounds incredible, so if I were Drake, I’d scrap the tattoo plan altogether.
