Time To Buddy Up With Cats Because Google Translate Says Dogs Will Bring The Apocalypse Upon Us

Turns out those furry canine companions may not be our best friend after all...

They say keep your friends close but your enemies closer. As it turns out, it may actually be humanity’s very best friend, the dog, who will bring the end times upon us.

Thats right, those fluffy, four-legged canine companions that have stuck by our side for thousands of years may doom us to oblivion.

Well, that’s according to Google Translate anyway.

A bunch of Redditors discovered that when “dog” is typed into Google Translate 18 times while translating from Maori to English, the result is this terrifying message of biblical proportions:

Doomsday Clock is three minutes at twelve We are experiencing characters and a dramatic developments in the world, which indicate that we are increasingly approaching the end times and Jesus’ return“.

Yikes, I don’t speak Maori but even I know that is definitely not what “dog” translates to in English.

Needless to say, this sparked up quite a bit buzz about why this was happening. Some think it’s just a glitch, others speculate that it’s just ghosts and demons messing with us using Google Translate, and a small number think the apocalypse may finally be coming after that false call in 2012.

The actual answer is actually much more boring than the underworld pranking us.

According to a Google spokesperson, the reason why Translate spits out a terrifying message when “dog” is typed in 18 times is because of how the system works. Simply put, typing in gibberish will cause Translate to spit out gibberish.

Okay, that’s a fair explanation but I was not completely convinced.

That message was a bit too coherent for a system spitting out gibberish so I decided to test out some other words.

But after typing in words like “bacon”, “pickle Rick”, and of course “cat” over 18 times into Google translate, only the word “dog” returns an apocalyptic message.

That’s a little unsettling.

This is all obviously a glitch on Google’s side of things and there’s honestly absolutely no way that our faithful furry companions will bring the end of times upon us.

But just to be safe, maybe it’s time to buddy up to cats instead of dogs.
