It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

All Praise Stella The Golden Labrador, Jumper, Leaf Connoisseur, And Overnight Viral Sensation

"People just love watching a happy dog."

The world is a dark place. Bomb threats happen on a daily basis, there’s almost no saving us from environmental catastrophe, the political divide is getting bigger and bigger, and every day that passes another good TV shows get cancelled. Worse still that us here in Australia are going through spring, which equals unreasonable amounts of pollen and erratic weather that you can never prepare for.

It’s in times like these that you have to give thanks for the simple thing in life. Like Stella, the 5-year-old Golden Labrador, an admirer of the autumn season, and my new personal God (What, I’ve said this before? Never!)

Stella’s fame initially arose thanks to Twitter user Colin Falin, where the six-second video of Stella running out of her family car and jumping right into a pile of beautiful, crunchy, autumn leaves has amassed over nine million views.

Since then, Stella has been featured by news outlets worldwide, including an appearance on the US TODAY show.

Stella’s owner, Jody Hartman, says that he received well-wishes from random internet users on a near-daily basis.

Speaking with the Boston Globe, Hartman said:

I get messages, nonstop, from people saying that ‘This made my day, this made me happy. This one has the simplicity and cuteness and fun a lot of viral videos have. And the seasonal aspect of it too.

Unfortunately, Stella’s leave-jumping days are numbered: Hartman has already said that, with the American winter coming, the leaves will soon have to be cleared away.

There’s always next year, Stella. Always next year.
