It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

The First Trailer For Matt Groening’s New Netflix Cartoon, Disenchantment, Is Finally Here & It’s All About The Adventures Of A Drunken Medieval Princess

At last! A character we can really relate to.

It’s been nearly 20 years since Matt Groening last blessed us with the gift of his comedic genius (yes Futurama premiered in 1999), but the wait for new animation from the creator of The Simpsons is officially over.

Say hello to Disenchantment, Groening’s new series, which is set in the past and described as an “adult fantasy about a crumbling medieval kingdom”.

The series is set to run for ten episodes and will feature non-other than Broad City star Abbi Jacobson in the lead role as Princess Bean.

If you’re a fan of the Groening universe you’ll also recognise a whole heap of regular voices including John DiMaggio, Billy West, Eric Andre, David Herman and Noel Fielding.

The team behind Disenchantment delved further into the premise in a recently released statement:

“In Disenchantment, viewers will be whisked away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses and lots of human fools.”

OK, so we don’t know a whole lot more about the ongoing plot, but we can hopefully assume it will be funny for at least 12 or so seasons.

In a world of great but intense shows like The Handmaid’s Tale, Westworld, and, um, the news, it’s nice to know we can carve out a block of time each week just to watch cartoons and relax.

All we have to do is wait until August.

Hold on guys, it’s not that far off.
