It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Let’s Talk About All The Moments In Crazy Rich Asians That You Probably Can’t Stop Thinking About Because This Movie Is So Damn Superb

Time to relive the movie by memory because there’s only so many times I can afford to see it in the cinema.

Crazy Rich Asians has arrived in Australian cinemas so now we can finally be a part of the chat about how freakin’ GREAT this movie is. It’s one of the most extravagant Hollywood romcoms we’ve ever been blessed with and it’s unsurprisingly smashing it at the box office.

Shout out to Director John M. Chu and the entirely Asian cast and everyone involved with creating this A++++ movie, and securing us a sequel.

What a time to be alive.

Because I can’t necessarily afford to head straight back to the cinema to see Crazy Rich Asians again, and again, and again, we’re going to just relive the glory of the film via all the thoughts and feelings I can remember experiencing during my initial viewing.

Indulge me, please.

*Spoilers Ahead, Obviously*

Thought #1

Maybe I should have studied Game Theory and learned the difference between playing to win and playing not to lose? Maybe then my life would have turned out a whole lot different and I would be more fulfilled. Hmm.

Thought #2

I wonder if I’ll ever date someone who masquerades as a mere middle-class peasant but turns out to be excessively wealthy and is also extremely good-looking. Where do I sign up?

Thought #3

Damn that food looks delicious.

Thought #4

Damn that man looks delicious. Hello Henry Golding.

Seriously loving all the gratuitous shots of the hot shirtless men. My thanks to the director.

Thought #5

How is Astrid doing that with her face? Gemma Chan is exquisite. She should be in the Louvre.

Thought #6

Seriously everyone in this movie is so amazing and good looking and talented.

Thought #7

Ronny Chieng is our national treasure.

(Remy Hii and Chris Pang aren’t bad either.)

Thought #8

Should I just take out a loan and buy that glitzy 70s-style Missoni dress? What do I need savings for anyway? Treat yourself.

Thought #9

Fish guts??? These women are sadistic. Evacuate the island immediately.

Thought #10

If someone showed up to my wedding in the Cinderella dress that Constance Wu stepped out in I would kick her out.

Yea nope this would not fly.

Thought #11

This is the most beautiful wedding ceremony I have ever seen. If I’m not covered in glitter and stepping into a spontaneous river with a man looking at me that way, then I’m straight up not getting married.

Thought #12

I have never heard a sound so beautiful as this Kina Granis woman singing Elvis’ ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love’ at the wedding. I think this is what heaven sounds like.

Thought #13

This movie might be a romcom but the core relationship at the heart of the film is between Rachel and her mother, and that is too real. Their connection is so important to who she is as a person and Mums are just the best.

The best part of the whole movie might just be when Rachel’s Mum comes to Singapore to be there for her.

Thought #14

Rachel is going to play you hard Mama Young. She is literally a Game Theory Professor, so wipe that smug look off your face quick-smart.

Also that moment when Rachel’s mother and Eleanor look at each other is so charged. I can’t get that interaction out of my head.

Thought #15

Astrid telling her cheating husband with the good abs that he’s not a man is everything. Astrid for PM.

Thought #16

This cover of ‘Yellow’ in Mandarin by Katherine Ho is making me so emotional, especially after learning that director Jon M. Chu wrote a letter to convince Coldplay to let them use the song, explaining that the word ‘yellow’ “has always had a negative connotation in my life – until I heard your song … It immediately became an anthem for me and my friends and gave us a new sense of pride we never felt before.”

The whole soundtrack was amazing but this climactic song was perfect on so many levels.

Thought #17

Oh god is that Eleanor’s ring that Nick is proposing with? OK now I’m crying. Nice one.

I’m so glad they decided to ditch the book ending and give us this corny ending instead.

(Also, fun fact: that is a for-real ring from Michelle Yeoh’s personal collection.)

Thought #18

Is that that guy from Glee making eyes at Astrid??

Get it, Harry Shum Jr.! I approve.

That is all. Farewell and thank you for listening to my TED talk.
