It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Charlize Theron's Admission That She Ate Nothing But Potato Chips To Gain Weight For Her Role In Tully Has Forced Me To Analyse My Diet

Put the bag down and step away from the deliciously, salty snacks.

Packing on the pounds for roles in Hollywood isn’t anything new, but there’s nothing quite like witnessing the transformation of a well-known celebrity from superstar bombshell, to average human slob, just like the rest of us.

They say no pain, no gain, and Charlize Theron is the latest movie star to up her calories in the hopes of nailing her new role.

The Oscar winner plays an exhausted, neglected, and despondent mum-of-three in the new flick, Tully.

While chatting to Ellen in a recent interview, Charlize admitted she indulged in quite a few tasty bags of delicious, salty, crunchy, fingerlickin’ potato chips to get the body she needed for the part.

“I had a bag in the car, a bag in the bathroom, a bag in the kitchen, a bag on the couch, a bag in my trailer…”

Damn Charlize, you’re just like me! I take a safety bag of Kettle Salt & Vinegar everywhere I go!

But here’s the difference, when Charlize packs on 22.6kg (or 50 pounds) for a role, it’s because it’s her job and she gets paid a damn fine cheque at the end of the day to do so.

Everyone applauds her commitment to the role, and we all watch in awe as she transforms her body for the part of a lifetime.

But when I put on a measly few kilos here or there, ohhhhh no, suddenly the world is ending and my mother wants to have an intervention.

Theron admitted it took almost a year and a half to lose the weight, and that it was significantly harder than when she did the same thing for her role in Monster, when she was in her late 20s.

“I was younger, I was 27, and I just didn’t snack for a week and was back into shape. It was insane. That doesn’t happen anymore.”

Oh yeah, I totally know what that’s like… I mean, don’t we all?

Theron isn’t the first female celeb to dish the dirt on the delicious but calorie-filled foods that help stack on the kilos.

When Kirsten Dunst had to gain weight for her 2015 role in Fargo, she famously told Jimmy Kimmel that all she did was lie in bed eating pizza and cheese.

“I was in Calgary, it was cold, so I ordered in a lot of pizza and grilled cheese. I just had different cheeses and breads together.”

Great, another favourite past time of mine now clearly identified as a major cause of weight gain.

And sure, I’m not an idiot, I knew all of this deep down, but it worked a lot better for me when it wasn’t verbalised out loud by a celebrity.

I just didn’t want to admit it, you know? I mean… no chips? No pizza? No bread? What the hell is left?

Ultimately, Charlize has made me realise I’ll only ever be able to enjoy my carbs again if I’m prepping for the movie or television role of a lifetime…

So, let’s start from the bottom and work our way up. What do I have to do to become an extra on Home and Away?
