It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Charlize Theron Was Asked To Play Wonder Woman's Mum And Said It Was A Slap In The Face

She's only nine years older than Gal Gadot.

While promoting her new flick The Long Shot, Charlize Theron appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen with co-star Seth Rogen.

During the episode, a fan called into the show and asked Charlize about the rumours she turned down the lead role in Wonder Woman, which ended up being played by Gal Gadot.

However, Charlize’s response has surprised a lot of people, because she didn’t turn down the role to be Wonder Woman at all, she turned down the role of Wonder Woman’s MUM, Hippolyta!

Not even joking.

“I did not turn the role of Wonder Woman down… This is a very good story. This is a great example of how Hollywood slaps you in the face when you start ageing.

“So, somebody had said to me, ‘Oh, there’s action on this thing, Wonder Woman. We just want to make you aware of it.’ And I was like, ‘I’m not familiar with it. I don’t really know, like…what does Wonder Woman do?’”

“And this person said, ‘No, it’s for Wonder Woman’s mom.’”

She added, “It was the defining moment where I crossed over and I wasn’t fully aware of it.”

Andy joked, “Next it’s gonna be Aunt M, Spider-Man’s ancient aunt!”

Seth added, “They all want me to be like Batman’s rabbi in movies.”

But honestly, do these people in movie making biz realise how strange Charlize would have looked as Wonder Woman’s mum?! Maybe her cool older sister, but definitely not her mum.

Connie Nielsen ended up getting the role of Hippolyta and nailed it, so thank God for that.
