Hugh Grant's One Big Issue With 'Joker' Is Relatable AF

AKA 'Old Man Yells At Cinema'.

Hugh Grant might not have the same level of lovableness as certain other Hughs, but his Joker viewing experience has truly cemented his BDE (big dad energy). Taking to Twitter to vent his frustrations, Grant complained that the cinema’s volume was just too damn loud!

It wasn’t long before the PR team was parachuted in – a Blue Tick calling your brand out is basically DEFCON 1. Rachel’s “Have a great day!” couldn’t have sounded any more sarcastic if she tried, but Grant’s Joker-based pun dealt the final blow. Now who’s the fool?!

The call-out was like a beacon to the old and old at heart, with hundreds of other moviegoers making their own disgruntled case. And to be fair, they kind of have a point – even a few minutes of exposure to sound over 85 decibels can cause tinnitus and permanent hearing loss.

He should try earplugs next time.

Ageist jokes aside, the volume of the movie is small fry compared to all the other auditory assaults of the cinema. Hugh Grant won’t be the only one unable to enjoy Joker, while popcorn is still a thing in movie theatres. People who sit next to you and crunch away during the suspenseful moments should be locked up, along with anyone who slurps their drink. It’s basically theft.

And that’s not to mention the jerks who give running commentaries to their friends the whole way through. Burning a $20 note would probably be a more entertaining use of your time and money that that whole situation.

Hell truly is other people.

Would it really be so terrible to hide from spoilers in a cave for a couple of months, ’til Joker comes out on TV? Maybe Hugh Grant should try enjoying film from the comfort of a home cinema from now on.
