There’s been a lot of debate about who is the most powerful Avenger between Captain Marvel and Thor, however, it looks like that competition has well and truly been won after Brie Larson proved Carol Danvers can totally lift Mjolnir.
Captain Marvel can fly, she’s very strong and basically unbeatable, so it should come as little surprise she can wield Mjolnir.
In a new post on Instagram, Larson shared a photo of herself casually holding the hammer. She captioned the snap, “Not to be whatever, but….told you I could lift it.”
Natalie Portman, who will be returning to the MCU as Mighty Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder joked, “Hey muscles, easy with my hammer!!!”
As expected with a post like this, there were plenty of angry dudes leaving comments on the photo saying there’s no way she’d be able to lift the hammer and just generally not being able to see that the post was a bit of fun.
It’s comments like this that have me so excited to see Portman in the role of Thor.
Directors of Avengers: Endgame, Anthony and Joe Russo have previously stated in a special feature included with movie’s Blu-ray release that Captain Marvel could easily put Thor in his place.
“It’s interesting seeing the Avengers with Captain Marvel. I think that she dimensionalizes them in a really great way. Just from a pure power standpoint and what her abilities are,” he said.
“If you’re talking about a collection of heroes, and you’re gonna go face Thanos who we believe still has the gauntlet.”
“She is as powerful, if not more powerful than Thor, and you suddenly have hope again. Because they all know what happened at the end of the last movie, he walked through them like they were paper.”
Anthony also added that when Carol shows up in the movie she makes the Avengers feel “like kids” and it’s only when she arrives they can put the bully back in his place.
They also added she’s just as worthy of power as Thor, so, there you have it, bros.
