Starting Friday 16 November through to Sunday 2 December, Bunnings Warehouses across Australia will be collection points for the #Itsinthebag charity initiative.
Every year the women’s charity Share The Dignity runs the initiative with Bunnings, which invites people to drop of handbags filled with personal care products that women need and appreciate.
The bags and goodies are Christmas gifts that are distributed to women who are homeless, at-risk and/or experiencing domestic violence.
All 294 @bunnings stores are collection points for our #itsinthebag Christmas appeal.
You can drop your kind donation off from 16.11 to 2.12 into any @Bunnings store in Australia.
Remember that behind every bag you give is a woman or girl that this gift means so much to! pic.twitter.com/Gvu0vfiten— SharetheDignity (@sharingdignity) November 11, 2018
Share The Dignity collects women’s personal care products all year round – donating thousands of pads, tampons and personal hygiene products each year to women in need. Their philosophy is that ‘small dignities make a big difference’.
They also fund funerals for victims of domestic violence and campaign for justice for women in Australia, so they’re an excellent charity to get on board with and they’re making it easy to do a little bit to help a lot.
We have seen a 30% increase in the need for our help in 2018 and we are desperately short on tampons
There is a supplier who is can sell us packets of tampons for $1 we just need your help to purchase 40000 packs.
Could you donate $1 or 2 today? https://t.co/iJCiyt9olZ pic.twitter.com/R4VYDyekVL— SharetheDignity (@sharingdignity) October 11, 2018
There is something particularly satisfying about Bunnings Warehouse, one of the most quintessentially Aussie (and by reputation, blokey) businesses around, being so proactive about this kind of women’s initiative.
So, as if you needed ANOTHER excuse to head to Bunnings, go down with something to donate to #itsinthebag, and grab a snag. It’s a win win.
