It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

A Reminder That Dwight’s Cousin Mose From The Office Created Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Parks & Rec, And The Good Place

It's a Schur thing.

In the garbage fire of life in 2019, there are a few bright spots: wholesome memes, fried cheese, literally all dogs… and TV.

Some of the very best TV you can get is a smart modern sitcom with a heart of gold and a cast of glorious weirdos, some of whom mash their faces together after you’ve been yelling at them to do it for two whole seasons.

It’s a vibe exemplified by Parks & Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Office US, or relative newcomer The Good Place.

And one man is the common thread behind all these life-affirming, infinitely quotable shows.

This man.

Yes, that’s Mose Schrute, Dwight’s beet-farming, manure-throwing, scarecrow-loving cousin, as played by Michael Schur.

Schur co-created The Office‘s US adaptation and Parks & Rec with Greg Daniels, co-created Brooklyn Nine-Nine with Dan Goor (not a doctor, shhh), and created The Good Place.

Collectively, fans call it the Schurverse. But not everyone has made the link between the mind behind so many of their favourite shows and Mose.

This man brought you Leslie and Ben and April Ludgate and Lil Sebastian and made the Worst Chris famous.

This human personification of fear gave us Shirtless Chidi and Bad Janet.

This chinstrapped beet freak is directly responsible for half the reaction GIFs on the internet.

May he forever hurl good TV shows full of diverse casts, heartwarming moments, and guest appearances from Jason “Maximum Derek” Mantzoukas at us like fistfuls of manure.
