There's Actually A Really Sad Reason You Want Bradley Cooper And Lady Gaga To Be Together

Didn't see that coming.

The most-talked about moment at the Oscars this year was without a doubt Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s performance of ‘Shallow’ from their movie A Star Is Born.

The pair got social media going nuts thanks to this look:

A lot of people saw that performance as them flaunting a secret romance in Cooper’s girlfriend Irina Shayk’s face at the time, despite the fact Shayk applauded the performance enthusiastically. When Bradley and Gaga returned to their seats Shayk embraced both of them. It was actually really lovely.

At the time Gaga said to Jimmy Kimmel, “First of all, like, social media, quite frankly, is the toilet of the internet. What it has done to pop culture is just, like, abysmal…Yes, people saw love and – guess what – that’s what we wanted you to see.”

“[‘Shallow’] is a love song, A Star Is Born is a love story. It was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time….When you’re singing love songs, that’s what you want people to feel.”

“I’m an artist, and I guess [Bradley and I] did a good job… fooled ya!”

News of Cooper and Shayk’s split last week was met with more rumours that he was unfaithful with Lady Gaga, especially as the pair has yet to comment on the split.

Gaga has seemingly commented on it by saying, “Be kind, be kind or f**k off,” before performing ‘Shallow’ at a concert over the weekend.

But the whole situation does beg the question, why do we get so passionate about two people, who we don’t even actually know, potentially getting together?

Cosmopolitan spoke to psychologist Andrea Geoglein, Phd, who revealed it’s not even really about the couple or potential couple, but about us.

“It’s not that people are rooting for Cooper and Gaga—they’re rooting for themselves.”

“They are projecting what they want in their own lives, what they may be missing. The Gaga-Cooper dynamic just reminds many what chemistry looks like, so they have fun building that into something deeper.”

The fact there was a love triangle just added to the thrill of it all and made it seem even more exciting.

The magazine also reports that Bradley credited Lady Gaga with giving him confidence onstage and that they would often practise in the basement of his and Irina’s home. So, in reality all three of them could actually have been good friends and maybe the split has nothing to do with Gaga!

There you have it, we care so much about Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper because we’re missing that kind of chemistry in our lives – that’s just great…
