Margot Robbie Just Schooled Tarantino And The Bros On How To Answer An Awkward Question

There was no shortage of drama on and off the big screen at Cannes this year.

Quentin Tarantino’s much-hyped ninth film, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, was finally shown off at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and it was a smash hit with the audience, scoring a standing ovation and glowing reviews stating that it’s his best movie since Pulp Fiction.

But the big news story to come out of the premiere wasn’t how good the movie is but just how bad Tarantino is at answering questions from journalists about the movie.

During the press conference for Hollywood, Tarantino was asked by a female reporter just why the uber-talented Margot Robbie got so few lines in the film as Sharon Tate. Rather than give one of his rambling answers that take about 10 minutes to get to the point, he immediately got testy and replied with a terse, “I reject your hypothesis.”

Sensing tension immediately, Margot then swoops in and saves the day by giving an eloquent response that answers the journalist’s question while also showing Tarantino how to masterfully navigate through awkward lines of questioning.

Just throw this onto the massive pile marked “reasons why we stan Margot Robbie.”

And let’s not forget Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, both of whom had unintentionally hilarious reactions to the whole debacle. The stone faced looks they have after Tarantino’s response just screams “duuude, no, what are you doing?”

The rest of the press conference went off without much of a hitch, though Tarantino’s much more open discussion about disgraced director Roman Polanski (who is portrayed by Rafał Zawierucha in Hollywood) did come off as a bit weird.

Best take notes from Margot on the art of navigating through tough press conferences, Quentin, because you’re probably going to get a bunch of them from now until when Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is released on July 26 after what happened at Cannes.
