Someone Found Passion Pop On The Menu At a Restaurant In Sri Lanka And The Fine Vintage Is Selling For $60 A Bottle

Yes, everyone's favourite bottom shelf "I'm broke and I need to get drunk about it" wine of choice is selling for prices overseas waaaaay too high for the underage teenagers it's so popular with.

Passion Pop, the drink of choice by the greatest of Australian wine connoisseurs, underage teenagers, is a god damn Australian icon. Let’s be honest here though, if it wasn’t for the $5 price tag it’s famous for nobody would even dream of drinking it.

You know why we love you.

But it appears that isn’t the case everywhere, in fact in some places, Passion Pop is going at top shelf prices.

Reddit user sacky85 recently posted evidence of a shocking discovery on the Australian subreddit. Our beloved Passion Pop was being advertised in the wine menu at a Sri Lankan restaurant for the bargain price of 7500 Sri Lankan Rupees or roughly $60 AUD.

It’s sad, but not at all surprising that the best compliment they can even give it on the menu is ‘approachable’

According to a study in 2015, where scientists conducted blind tests, wine actually tastes more delicious if you think it’s more expensive. Could the inflated price actually make Passion Pop palatable?

Someone fly to Sri Lanka and let us know.
