It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

The Black Widow Movie Will Actually Feature Way More Widows Than We Thought

A lot more.

The highly anticipated Black Widow movie will introduce many new characters from Natasha Romanoff’s past, including a bunch of other Black Widows.

The film is current shooting and stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Rachel Weiz and Florence Pugh.

In an interview with IGN at San Diego Comic-Con Weiz revealed there are more Black Widows than we originally thought.

“There are quite a number. I’m a Black Widow and there’s Scarlett and Florence. There’s quite a bit of other characters you’ll also meet that are Black Widows.”

It turns out that mantle has been shared by multiple women before Natasha even joined The Avengers.

We previously reported that Pugh’s role of Yelena Belova is the second person in the comics to take on the mantle of Black Widow, but it’s very interesting to know there will be a lot more of them.

Introducing Belova into the mix makes a lot of sense, because it means that although Nat died in Endgame, Marvel can continue to have Black Widow as a key character.

Since she first appeared in the MCU in Iron Man 2, Natasha has been a very mysterious character. We don’t know very much about her past, other than Hawkeye found her and recruited her for S.H.I.E.L.D and the flashback we saw in Age Of Ultron.

Now we know that the name Black Widow was actually shared by many different women, it’ll be interesting to see how they interact and how badass they are.

With the mantle of Captain America being handed to Sam Wilson and Thor naming Valkyrie as King of Asgard it’ll also be interesting to see the change in Widows.

Black Widow will be Marvel’s second female-focused movie after Captain Marvel and we are so pumped to see it when it hits theatres in May 2020.
