It Looks Like We'll Be Finishing 2018 Right, With Black Mirror’s Delightfully Creepy Film Bandersnatch

Hell to the yes.

Netflix has been tortuously teasing the much-anticipated Black Mirror special event film, Bandersnatch, but in a sudden wave of generosity they’ve dropped a full length trailer AND a release date. Which is…today actually: December 28.

So add this to your holiday season binge-list my friends.

In true Black Mirror fashion, the whole thing is still cryptic as hell.

“In 1984, a young programmer begins to question reality as he adapts a sprawling fantasy novel into a video game and soon faces a mind-mangling challenge,” the logline reads.

Basically the movie stars Fionn Whitehead (Dunkirk) as Stefan, working as a computer programmer in the 80s who seems to become obsessed with creating an “adventure game” based on a fantasy novel.

The novel is, of course, titled Bandersnatch, and the author is, of course, a guy who apparently went a bit crazy “and cut his wife’s head off.”

What could go wrong?

The film also features Will Poulter (iconic eyebrow boy) and Asim Chaudhry, and it’s reportedly directed by David Slade – director of season 4 episode ‘Metalhead’.

Considering society’s obsession with video games and the division between gaming and reality, we’re keen to see how Black Mirror wades into those deep waters. Luckily we don’t have long to wait.
