Here's How Billie Eilish Plans To Make Her 2020 World Tour Eco-Friendly

Billie is going green.

As if we needed any more reason to adore Billie Eilish, the 17-year-old has vowed to make her 2020 world tour eco-friendly.

In a recent interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Eilish spoke about her upcoming Where Do We Go? World tour, which kicks off next September in Miami, Florida.

“We’re trying to be as green as possible on the entire world tour,” she said. “We’re actually bringing someone from REVERB, which is basically this company that specialises in the best, and most healthy and green ways to do everything.”

“So there’s no plastic straws allowed, the fans are going to bring their own water bottles, there’s going to be recycle cans everywhere. If something is recyclable, it doesn’t matter unless there’s a recycle bin…Plant-based food and everything.”

According to REVERB’s official website, the non-profit organisation “partner with Musicians, Festivals and Venues to green their concert events while engaging fans face-to-face at shows to take environmental and social action.”

The company says they achieve this by eliminating single-use plastic bottles, coordinating local farm food, fueling sustainable biodiesel in tour buses and composting and donating food waste amongst other things.

It’s not the first time Eilish had spoken out about the world’s current climate crisis. Just two days ago, the singer posted a video to Instagram along with a speech detailing the devastating impact climate change is having on our planet. “Our Earth is heating up, and our oceans are rising. Extreme weather is wrecking millions of lives,” she begins.

“From California to the Amazon, our forests are burning,” actor Woody Harrelson adds. “We are in a climate emergency.”

The pair call on fans to join the climate strikes, vote for leaders who care about the future of our planet, support organisations like Greenpeace and Fridays for Future, and live a greener lifestyle by cutting out meat, dairy and reducing plastic use. “Above all,” Harrelson says. “Keeping yourself informed and making your voice count.”

Billie Eilish also joins The 1975 in an effort to make touring eco-friendly. Earlier this year, the British band teamed up with Swedish teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg on an environmental statement track, have created sustainable merch and even donated ticket sales to reforestation charities.

It’s so inspiring to see artists like Billie Eilish and The 1975 use their platforms and influence to encourage positive change for our planet.
