Robert Pattinson Might Not Actually Play Bruce Wayne, But That Doesn't Mean He Won't Be Batman

Well, this could be interesting.

There’s been a lot of backlash online following news Robert Pattinson is in line to play Batman.

In the great words of Jimmy Kimmel, “Comic book fans haven’t been this angry since every other time they announce who’s playing Batman.”

We get it, fans don’t think RPatz is much of a Bruce Wayne type, but what if he wasn’t playing Wayne? What if he was playing Terry McGinnis, the Batman from Batman Beyond.

Batman Beyond is a series set in the future where Bruce Wayne is older and has retired from being Batman. Terry convinces Bruce to let him take on the Batman mantle, as they both lost a parent to criminals, and Bruce ends up mentoring Terry.

Oddly enough, during the series finale of Batman Beyond we find out that Bruce is actually Terry’s biological father thanks to some technology that rewrites Terry’s dad’s reproductive material – yep, kind of confusing!

According to Screen Rant, Terry is agile and light whereas Bruce uses brute force and power, and while Terry doesn’t have any formal training he learned to fight on the streets and isn’t afraid to fight dirty.

While Pattinson might not be a good fit for Bruce’s figure, he probably fits with Terry’s narrower frame.

Also, if he does play Terry then they’re still going to need to cast a Bruce Wayne, Michael Keaton is 67 years old which could make him the perfect candidate!

DC Comics executive Jim Lee shared an Instagram post recently that seems to hint at Pattinson taking over the role, so, it seems like it’s quite likely an official announcement will come soon.

While many people still think of him from his Twilight days, Pattinson has grown into quite the accomplished actor so we look forward to seeing what he could bring to the role – whether that be as Bruce or Terry.
