If you thought Avengers: Endgame was the, er, end of the Avengers, you would be sorely mistaken, at least according to Samuel L. Jackson.
Jackson first appeared in the post-credit scenes of Iron Man in 2008 and has been involved in the MCU ever since, appearing in 11 out of 23 MCU movies.
Nick Fury is different in that, there’s no real urgency for his character to be wrapped up and written out and judging from the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer, it feels like he’s the glue keeping everyone together.
While there’s no word yet on whether or not the Avengers will return, Jackson believes it’s inevitable that the gang will get together again.
In an interview with CinemaBlend, Jackson said that at some point Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will need to come together once again to defeat a massive threat.
He even teased that Fury might know of a new villain coming, “I always think that there’s room for every kind of story to be told. And at some point, they’re going to have to put together another Avengers group of some sorts to deal with whatever’s coming next.
“Nick [Fury] knows something is coming, the same way he found out in Captain Marvel that there are other things that need to be dealt with that I didn’t know about. This is moving us to another place.”
Fury went missing for a few films including Captain America: Civil War and it’s unknown what he and Maria Hill were up to until we saw them turned to dust in Avengers: Infinity War.
In the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer Fury talks about the idea of the multi-verse and characters from other dimensions. So, it would seem that there’s an endless supply of bad guys and gals out there.
No doubt, if the Avengers are getting together again there is something seriously bad happening to the universe. And it’s very likely that Nick Fury will be there when it happens.
