As The Highest Paid Avenger, Exactly How Much Was Robert Downey Jr. Paid For End Game?

I need to sit down.

In case you didn’t notice, the Avengers franchise is kind of a big deal. And in case you really weren’t paying attention, Robert Downey Jr. AKA Tony Stark AKA Iron Man, is the biggest player in that franchise. He has the pay cheque to prove it.

RDJ has been Iron Man since 2008, and as the face of the Avengers franchise he has an extra ~special~ financial arrangement that was negotiated with the studio chief.

To contextualise just how much he’s valued by Marvel, take this example. Robert Downey Jr. received US$5 million a day for three day’s work in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. $5 million and he’s not even the movie’s protagonist – that is the dream.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, RDJ’s take home from Avengers: Infinity War – which grossed more than US$2 billion – was at least US$75 million(!???!??!????!!!!)

Other Avengers players like Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Chris Evans (Captain America) all earned within the US$15 -$20 million for Infinity War. It’s a sum I wouldn’t be complaining about but a significant amount behind RDJ.

As for Endgame, the film has already grossed over US$1.5 billion at box office and it hasn’t run out of steam yet. Plus, bonuses for the Avengers actors apparently kick in after $1.5 billion so that’s a win for them.

(Spoilers ahead for Endgame)

Considering that the final Avengers film also sees Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man meet his final fate, it makes sense that his pay out for the film would be even more than Infinity War. More than $75 million. The exact amount has yet to be revealed but I think we can preemptively say, well done RDJ.
