Tom Holland Reveals How He Improvised The 'I Don't Wanna Go' Scene And Now We're Crying

"It sparked a great idea."

One of the stand out moments of Avengers: Infinity War was Spider-Man actor Tom Holland’s “I don’t wanna go” scene.

While most of the dusted heroes just disappeared, we got a whole death scene for Peter Parker – which I’m still not over, by the way!

When it was revealed Tom had improvised his Spidey exit, many fans were amazing by his acting chops and now in an interview with GQ, he’s revealed exactly how it happened.

“Basically we did a long improvise and it wasn’t great. But it sparked a great idea, and then we reworked the scene, and then this was born.”

The line, “I don’t wanna go,” came about thanks to an acting technique Tom uses if he wants to cry during a scene.

“A technique I do if I’m trying to cry is I’ll say a phrase over and over again. So, for example, if I was in a scene and I was talking to someone and the undertone of the scene was that I love them, I would say in my head, “I love you so much, I love you so much, I love you so much, I love you so much.”

“And in that scene, it was ‘I don’t wanna go’ and I just thought I would say it out loud and it works. It’s really good in the film.”

Who knew something so simple could be so impactful?

Watch Tom explain the scene below at around the 6:39 mark:

The actor also referenced the split between Marvel and Sony which will see Spider-Man exit from the MCU.

“I’m not shy about expressing how incredible the last five years have been with Marvel.”

“I’ve truly had the time of my life, and in so many respects, they have made my dreams come true as an actor.

“Sony has also been really good to me, and the global success of Spider-Man: Far From Home is a real testament to their support, skill and commitment. The legacy and future of Spidey rests in Sony’s safe hands. I really am nothing but grateful, and I’ve made friends for life along the way.”

We’ll certainly miss watching Spider-Man in the MCU, but it’ll be interesting to see how Sony performs with their next Spidey film without Marvel’s help.
