The Gross 'Avengers: Infinity War' Scene Kevin Feige Ditched For Going Too Far

"I don’t want to see that!"

Avengers: Infinity War co-writer Christopher Markus has revealed there was one scene from the film that Marvel boss Kevin Feige had to cut out for being a little too gross.

Markus, who also co-wrote Avengers: Endgame, revealed that Feige thought they went too far with a scene involving Captain America and some mashed potatoes…

Speaking with IGN, Markus said, “There was one scene, it was in Infinity War. We wrote it, we didn’t shoot it. It was part and parcel of a whole thing where we realized we were picking up the characters too early in their arc before Thanos had gotten to them.

“It was a scene of basically [Black Widow] and Falcon and Cap in hiding post-Civil War and they’d just been through a big fight with criminals, and Cap was eating mashed potatoes, and Falcon says ‘You’re bleeding into your mashed potatoes.’ He looks at him like… yeah he is bleeding into his mashed potatoes.

“I remember Kevin [Feige] going ‘He’s bleeding into his mashed potatoes?! I don’t want to see that!’ Yeah, maybe we went a little too…something.”

Yeah, to be honest, I’m with Feige on that one, no one wants to see a guy eating bloody mashed potatoes… even if he is as beautiful as Chris Evans.

The scene they eventually went with had a lot more impact behind it with Cap, Falcon and Black Widow coming out of the shadows to help Scarlet Witch and Vision in Edinburgh.

In another chat with CinemaBlend, Markus spoke about another scene that was written but never shot. He revealed the Hulk was going to have a vision when he performed his snap in Endgame like Thanos did in Infinity War where he saw Gamora as a little girl.

We know Tony Stark was meant to have one as well where he saw his daughter Morgan as a young adult, but what would the Hulk have seen?

“We did actually write a version, and this existed before The Ancient One scene was slowly beaten out, but there was a version where it was [Bruce Banner] talking to The Hulk… and we never shot it, but it was kind of a cool thing to get them both on screen together interacting,” Markus revealed.

The closest we’ve ever gotten to Bruce talking to the Hulk was during Infinity War when he tries to get his other half to emerge, only for the Hulk to yell, “NO!”

But this Endgame scene would have been a full-blown conversation between the pair, which would have been cool to see.

There’ll be a whole bunch of deleted scenes included in the mammoth Infinity Saga Collector’s Edition box set, including some of the embarrassing ones, so if you have a small fortune to spend on that you can check them all out!
