It’s been a big day for… Listening to...

Apparently Avengers: Endgame Is Going To Be About Three Hours Long So Maybe Don't Drink Anything In The Cinema

Otherwise you'll have to hold it in.

After letting slip back in November that while halfway through the editing process, the runtime for the upcoming Avengers movie was three hours, the Russo brothers confirmed to Collider that it’s still at the three-hour mark, making it the longest movie in the MCU.

Joe Russo told Collider:

“I think the studio is down with what the best story is. Right now, we think the movie is playing well and we’ve had great responses from our test audiences and we’re feeling very good about where it is. We’re still doing work to it. We’re not done with it.”

Side note, but how does one become a participant in these test audiences? Asking for a friend.

Russo went on to say:

“Again, this is a culmination film of 22 movies, it’s a lot of storytelling to work into it. Emotion is an intrinsic part of that to us. When you have to tell a really complicated story and you want strong emotional moments with the characters, it just requires a certain amount of real estate. This one, in particular, feels like three hours worth of real estate.”

The lengthy run-time definitely makes sense considering all the loose ends they have to wrap up, but it might pose some problems for fans. Namely fans with small bladders.

If you managed to sit through Infinity War, which was two hours and 40 minutes long, you should be fine. And Joe Russo said that during the first three test screenings, nobody got up to go to the bathroom, which suggests there probably won’t be an intermission. Which is a shame, if only because these tweets about a potential intermission are so great:

Avengers: Endgame comes out on April 26th, which is only 76 days away. Gird your loins, nerds!
