Looks Like Ariana Grande Will Lose The Coveted No.1 UK Christmas Song Accolade To A YouTuber's Parody About Sausage Rolls

"We built this city on sausage rolls!"

Besides debating over whether Die Hard is the greatest Christmas movie ever and listening to Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You‘ on repeat over and over again, one of the greatest end-of-year traditions is the epic – and sometimes ridiculous – battle to be the UK’s No.1 Christmas Song.

For 2018, we may be witnessing the greatest battle for the UK’s No.1 Christmas song since it became a thing in 1973.

In one corner, we have Ariana Grande and her latest banger, ‘Thank U, Next’.

And in the other corner we have … YouTuber LadBaby’s goofy parody of ‘We Built This City’ called ‘We Built This City… On Sausage Rolls’.

In case you’re wondering, yes, the song is even better than what the title suggests.

At the time of writing, LadBaby – real name Mark – is actually leading the race to No.1 with sales of 45,336 according to The Sun, which is some 8,000 more than Ari’s song.

In fact, Ari may not even reach No.2 on the UK charts this Christmas as ‘Thank U, Next’ is also trailing Ava Max’s ‘Sweet But Psycho’ by 4,000 sales.

But all this buzz isn’t getting to Mark’s head though. All the money raised by ‘We Built This City… On Sausage Rolls’ will go towards The Trussell Trust, which is a UK-based food bank network that provides emergency food and support for those in poverty.

As a cherry on top, Mark is also more than happy to shout sausage rolls to his fellow musicians on the UK charts:

“If anyone in the charts wants to share a sausage roll, then I’m paying. They’re on me.”

Talk about the power of sausage rolls, amirite?

As for when we’ll find out the results, the UK Singles Chart will update on December 21 their time so we won’t have long to wait.

Should ‘We Built This City… On Sausage Rolls’ become UK’s No.1 Christmas song for 2018 – and good lord we are hoping it does – it will rank alongside chart-topping legends like The Beatles, Queen… and Bob The Builder.

What incredible times we live in.
