DC’s Aquaman was the surprise hit of 2018 pulling in over $1.1 billion at the box office. Which makes it a no brainer that now a sequel has been green lit to continue the swimming adventures of Arthur Curry and his fishy friends.
The tentatively titled, Aquaman 2 will be released on December 16, 2022, which means it’s a solid wait away but damn it if Momoa is anything like fine wine, the wait will be worth it.
Even then, this means that the sequel will come almost 4 years after the first solo outing for the character and it seems like the DCEU is taking a break/shutting down focusing on solo adventures and honestly, we’re all for that.
The first Aquaman made an impact both critically and commercially for a reason and frankly that could be down to the fact that the story stood on its own and didn’t rely on cameos and excessive “world building”… other reasons include a perpetually wet Jason Momoa.
So now we wait for Aquaman 2: Waterlogged Booglaloo (as we are calling it until proven otherwise).
