A Candidate For US Congress Swore At The NRA In His Ad And It Is Both Glorious And Beautifully Ironic

Hey NRA, how are you feeling about a constitutionally protected F-bomb?

Swearing: kids, it’s big and it’s clever. And it’s also generally illegal on television, depending on the word and the time of day – except if it’s in a political advertisement which cannot be edited nor censored by the station airing it.

And that is why Pat Davis, Democratic candidate for New Mexico’s 1st congressional district, was able to get a 15 second ad on television which contains an excitingly unambiguous message to the National Rifle Association.

“F*** the NRA. Their pro-gun policies have resulted in dead children, dead mothers and dead fathers. I’m Pat Davis and I approve this message, because if congress won’t change our gun laws, we’re changing congress.”

It was a masterclass in viral news because he bought one $250 slot and has been getting international headlines – including GOAT, right now! Go Pat!

And needless to say the NRA are not too happy about it, and have attempted to get #DesperateDavis trending with messages of abuse. So expect a lot of arguments from free speech advocates that praise leaders that speak their mind without any of that politically correct censorship tying themselves in knots to explain why THIS is obviously different.

Here’s hoping he wins, if only in the hopes that all political advertising in the US suddenly gets a whole lot more profane.

PS F*** the NRA.
