It’s Adele’s 31st birthday and she’s taken the chance to say goodbye to everything that 30 gave her, including the breakdown of her marriage.
Taking to Instagram the singer shared everything that she learned from 30 and revealed she’s going to spend 31 taking care of herself for once and doing the things she wants to do.
In the snaps, she’s celebrating in style with her friends and it looks like a bloody good time.
“This is 31…thank f***ing god… 30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all. No matter how long we’re here for life is constant and complicated at times.
“I’ve changed drastically in the last couple years and I’m still changing and that’s okay. 31 is going to be a big ol’ year and I’m going to spend it all on myself.
“For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once. Be kind to yourself people we’re only human, go slow, put your phone down and laugh out loud at every opportunity.
“Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and I’ve only just realized that that is more than enough. I’ll learn to love you lot eventually.”
She then went on to add, “30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you. Chin up eh.”
Speaking with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe in 2015, Adele explained that her albums were based on milestone years, “I was 20 when 19 came out. I was 23 when 21 came out.”
However, at the time she thought she would be ditching the numerical patter, saying, “I think [25] will be my last age one… I’m sure I’m wrong with this but I feel there’s been a massive change in me in the last couple of years.”
Last year she celebrated her birthday with a Titanic-themed party, while this year it appears it was “NYE ’31” which you can see in the corner of the photo on Instagram.
It looks like this’ll be a bloody huge year for Adele and we can’t wait to hear that album!
