Don’t Even Bother Planning Your 30th Until You Take A Look At Adele’s Titanic Movie-Themed Party

This is how you do a birthday right.

It’s been 84-years… since I last attended a decent party. Or at least it feels that way.

But now Adele has inspired me to go above and beyond and throw a shindig of my own that this town will never forget.

Queen Adele recently became the unofficial celebrity party planner of the universe after pictures of her epic Titanic-themed 30th hootenanny appeared online.

But here’s the thing. Before you get all angry at her for disregarding the tragedy that was the Titanic sinking – keep in mind the birthday bash was based on the Oscar winning 1997 James Cameron movie, not the 1912 drowning disaster.

Adele didn’t dress up as a drowning victim, she dressed up as Kate Winslet’s fictional character in the movie, “Rose”.

Because, you know, this party was based on the characters in the film, not the actual iceberg catastrophe.

Looking more like Winslet’s “Rose” than Winslet herself, Adele went into full-theme mode with a custom-made gown, a wig styled just like Rose’s hair, and even brought in a replica Titanic set.

Certainly puts my 30th at my local small bar to shame.

Guests included everyone from Mark Ronson…

… to Aaron Paul and producer and DJ, Zane Lowe.

While it’s been 106 years since the Titanic sank and 1517 people perished, a lot of individuals online have felt it was pretty tasteless to build a celebration around the loss of lives, prompting the question: how much time needs to pass before we can use tragedy as acceptable inspiration for a celebration?

Is there even a right amount of time?

The answer could be – no time is long enough.

Maybe it’s only OK when the last of the tragedy’s survivors have passed away.

In this instance, you could argue the time was right when we decided it was OK for Hollywood to turn the tragedy into a romantic 2-hour long drama fest…

… or when exhibitions charge us money and profit from our desire to view the drama of the tragedy in real life by allowing us to “come face to face with an actual iceberg”?

To put things in perspective on an Adele level, the songstress is known for her love of re-enacting films and dressing up as her favourite characters.

She’s done this numerous times for movies like The Mask and The Revenant.

Adele is also known as a huge Titanic (the movie) fan, and was even snapped with Celine Dion earlier this year.

This party was Adele’s chance to dress up like “Rose” the character, nothing more, nothing less.

I’m going to choose to believe that Adele meant no harm or disrespect with her 30th.

I will look at this event as inspiration to commit to a theme the next time I have a big birthday, not as a tasteless or mindless act that the Internet can get all upset about.
