It’s Time To Scream And Shout Like A Mime With A Bullhorn Megaphone Because A Quiet Place Is Getting A Sequel

An Even Quieter Place? Another Quiet Place? Just SHUT THE F*** UP ALREADY? Whatever they call it, Paramount have worked out that silence is golden

If you haven’t seen A Quiet Place just yet, now might be a good time – and not just because it’s a genuinely well-conceived film that will have you coiling in your seat with a blanket up against your face , but because it’s so good that Paramount has already commissioned a sequel. Paramount’s chairman, Jim Gianoplulos, made the announcement at CinemaCon this week, saying the studio was already working on the next instalment of John Krasinski’s breakout horror flick: “We’re thrilled to say that we’re already working on the sequel to A Quiet Place”. Talk about a big ol’ pay day in the Krasinski household! Not only did John co-write the original with Byran Woods and Scott Beck, he directed it, and even starred in the movie alongside Emily Blunt (also his real-life wife). While the original (feels weird saying that considering it’s still in cinemas now) was almost entirely dialogue free, the announcement of a sequel has fans wondering if there will be any dialogue in the next movie at all. Will the sound-hunting monsters return? Or will this be a completely different universe where the monsters feed on silence and everyone just has to get really loud and scream for two hours. Maybe it could be a movie about really chill aliens who are here to teach us how to meditate, and love life, and we can just call it, “A Happy Place”? The tagline could even be: If they hear you, they hug you… OK, those details probably haven’t been worked out just yet, but I’m sincerely hoping we get to see our favourite Hollywood couple onscreen and together again. Considering A Quiet Place made more than $US 200 million worldwide, Krasinski and Blunt would be pretty crazy not to team up for a second time. While I’m all onboard for a sequel, I’d also love to see a prequel. Let’s make this flick a trilogy that follows no chronological release order whatsoever. Oh, and for no particular reason, here’s my favourite A Quiet Place tweet of all time.
